If you follow me on social media, you will know I have been, and still am, decorating for Christmas. I’ll be honest, since we got the house, I have been waiting for this moment. I love christmas, I am obsessed, I collect true vintage Christmas (just wait until you see the dining room) and would purchase it all year round if it was there to buy! So I thought I best start sharing my decor, as there is going to be ALOT!
I started with the living room, and that’s the room I’ll be sharing today. My plan for this room had always been to have a glamorous victorian nod, think mercury glass, frosted mistletoe and candelabras!
I started with the fireplace, adding the garlands, and then building the decor up around it. I tend to keep to the same layout of different heights that I do for all my decor on the mantle- it just works. I added bottle brush trees, mercury style candles and a candelabra. I changed out the ephemera in the frames to a robin print, and one of my french magazines from the early 1920’s, I know, not victorian, but it matches the aesthetic and it is a festive edition! I added lots of green foliage on the left side in one of my glass bottles, as well as stems of pearls that could hang and drape over.
Our tree is 8ft, and was an absolute charity shop steal for £8! The photo does not do it justice, but it is so much bigger in person. It has different branch types, pinecones and a slight snowy finish. I stared purchasing baubles for this tree last year, before we even completed. I actually chose the bauble colour theme months before I’d even considered a peach living room, luckily it was a great match as I was already knee deep in baubles by that point haha! I added bead garlands, and all of our glass ornaments, which all have a vintage style, as I wanted that victorian feel to the tree. I also added 2000 lights, we purchased the premier ones, and they really are beautiful, they look like tiny twinkling stars at night – I love them!
And the last feature that I just have to share is our Christmas village! I am OBSESSED with Christmas villages. I started setting this up in October to see what wires we would need to purchase, but I’ll be honest, I had no intention of taking it down, the minute we pulled the boxes out, I knew it was staying out until January. There’s just something so magical about these little villages, and we decided to empty the armoire and create our village in there, and it looks even better than I imagined it would!
We don’t have a huge village but the majority of our village pieces have been purchased second hand or at sale prices. For the past few years I have purchased a small one every October from the garden centre, in celebration of my Grans birthday, so some of them do have meanings behind them as well. Christmas Villages can be very expensive, some brands more so than others, but I’d always recommend checking charity stores and marketplace, and just start with one piece, and a few figures. I even sat one on top of a book on a wooden tray, just by accident, and it looked so pretty, if I had spares I’d definitely make small scenes like that! You could always make it a yearly tradition of adding one piece, and then it will become something really special for your family.
I hope you enjoyed this festive post, as it will be the first of many! Do you have your decorations up yet? and of course, as always, let me know what you thought!
Much love

It looks absolutely amazing, I love the colour theme all the oldie worldie bits and bobs, I have followed you on Pinterest as well love your post on there, can’t wait to see the other rooms 😍
I so admire your home decor from Canada! I have 2 mirrors that are identical to the one on your mantle. Your Christmas tree is stunning! Just love how you put it all together. I can’t wait to see the rest.
I also shop at thrift stores and I find the best vintage bulbs! I always buy them and I use them to hang onto a gift bag with ribbon
