As you all know I am in love with Paris, so when I was asked to write a post for Air France to celebrate their new Manchester to Paris flights I jumped at the chance! I thought one thing I havent shared on here is my top places to view Paris, yes we all know the Eiffel Tower has amazing views, but you can’t see the Eiffel Tower in all its glory if your stood up it!
My first spot is from the Pont Alexandre III bridge, now this bridge deserves a post in itself, it is beautiful, but we’re not here to look at what we’re standing on but what we are looking at! This bridge is my favourite place to capture the sunset in Paris, the reflections of the sky in the water is amazing, this sunset was taken on New Years day, but whether I’ve been there in winter or summer this sunset view never fails.
This second view is one of my favourites as it’s kind of unexpected. This photo was taken from inside the department Store Galeries Lafayette (the one on the Grand Boulevards) This department store has a roof terrace where you can see for miles, with the Eiffel Tower in the distance, however this view was taken from the toy floor (which in itself makes for a fun half hour) I always love how white the city looks at this view, and whats even better is you can eat in their restaurant and enjoy the views. The restaurant isn’t expensive, its a canteen self serving style and I always go and just get cake!
Ahhh another sunset, but this one is over the rooftops! And nothing beats a sunset over the rooftops of Paris. This view of the Eiffel Tower is from Montmartre. The front of the Sacre Coeur has an amazing view but if you walk right to that view and look through the fencing (you’ll probably spot some tourists trying to climb up for a better view) you will get this amazing rooftop view, I always love this view on misty rainy days.
Tour Montparnasse is the large tower that runs opposite to the Eiffel Tower, it is 689 ft tall and offers the best panoramic view of Paris. Now I dont really find sky scrapers all that nice to look at, so I much prefer to go to the top of this and view the Eiffel Tower! The lift (which is the fastest in Europe) takes you to the 56th floor, which may be higher then the eiffel tower but its on the inside so might not be as frightening if you have a fear of heights like the lifts are in the Eiffel Tower. Apparently it does get busy in the day but not as much as the Eiffel Tower but we went just before sunset so we could see the city light up, and qued for 10 minutes. I have to say this is the best view I have had of Paris, watching the rivers of light flow through the streets and the tower glitter on the hour, it really is a magical experience.
This last view is from Parc des Buttes Chaumont which I think is the most beautiful park in Paris, it has a waterfall, yep a waterfall and is a relaxing walk away from the busy streets. The highest point in the park offers amazing views of the Sacre Coeur, its somewhere to go if you want to get away from the tourist heavy spots but still have your breath taken away!
